¿El Covid-19 surgió en China? La OMS aún no está tan segura
Un grupo de expertos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud viajó a Wuhan para indagar sobre los orígenes del SARS-Cov-2, sin embargo, afirman que aún es temprano para conclusiones.
Este viernes, la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) aseguró que es demasiado pronto para poder determinar si el coronavirus surgió o no en China, como se ha creído desde que empezó la pandemia.
“Todas las hipótesis están sobre la mesa. Claramente es demasiado pronto para llegar a una conclusión sobre el lugar donde nació este virus, ya sea en China o fuera de China”, aseguró en conferencia de prensa Michael Ryan, director de emergencias sanitarias de la OMS.
Para Ryan, la situación es muy compleja y no se puede determinar el origen del Covid-19 únicamente con unos cuantos datos que se han logrado recopilar hasta el día de hoy.
“Hay distintas observaciones científicas en diferentes partes del mundo (…) Es un gran rompecabezas y no se puede tener una visión de conjunto mirando una sola de las 10 mil piezas de un rompecabezas”, dijo el funcionario.
“Nuestro equipo está sobre el terreno, el trabajo con nuestros colegas chinos va bien. Analizamos los datos”, continuó Michael Ryan.
El pasado 14 de enero, una misión de la OMS llegó a Wuhan, ciudad de China donde se registraron los primeros casos confirmados de coronavirus a finales del 2019, para investigar el origen del virus; sin embargo, por el momento los investigadores no han podido salir de su hotel debido a que deben llevar una cuarentena de dos semanas; una vez que esta termine podrán entonces acudir a los distintos sitios del país para indagar.
El origen del Covid-19 es incierto, muchos creen que el virus surgió de ciertos animales como el murciélago o el pangolín; pero también existen quienes aseguran que el coronavirus fue creado en en un laboratorio; incluso se ha especulado con que el gobierno chino ocultó información sobre el tema, pero nada de eso se ha confirmado.
Hasta el momento, el Covid-19 ha acabado con la vida de más de 2 millones de personas y se encamina a registrar 100 millones de casos confirmados en todo el mundo, por ahora lleva poco más de 98; además de innumerables estragos en la economía mundial.
