Internan a doctor que pospuso su boda para combatir el COVID-19: “Tengo fervientes ganas de vivir”
La pareja de médicos se hizo viral durante el año pasado, luego de que compartieran su decisión a través de redes sociales.
A fines de mayo de 2020, la historia de dos médicos de Ecuador se hizo viral luego de que compartieran una imagen en uno de los días que sería el más importante de su vida, pero que debió posponerse para trabajar y contener la pandemia del coronavirus.
En la imagen, David Vallejo y Mavelin Bonilla sostenían un letrero en el que decían «hoy era el día de nuestra boda, pero en su lugar estamos trabajando por ti. Cuídate, no bajes la guardia».
La pareja había conversado con El Comercio en donde David comentó que Mavelin «tenía comprado hasta el vestido».

La publicación fue ampliamente difundida para generar conciencia del virus en la población y hoy ha tomado mayor atención debido a que David, de 27 años ingresó a la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del recinto donde trabaja, el Hospital del IESS Quito Sur.
Según consignó el mismo medio, el joven médico desarrolló síntomas graves derivados del COVID-19 por lo que debió ser internado en dicha unidad, no sin antes lograr escribir una pequeña carta en un papel.
«Cuando tuve la oportunidad de trabajar de la mano con el doctor Mauricio Cabrera en la UCI, me enseñó que a los pacientes intubados debemos darle identidad. Soy el doctor David, tengo fervientes ganas de vivir la vida», dice en una primera parte.
Más adelante continua señalando que quiere cumplir sus sueños: «Casarme con la mujer que amo (Mave), construir una familia, este año voy a viajar a España para hacer el MIR y concursar por mi residencia, sé que harán lo mejor».
El doctor terminó el pequeño texto escribiendo «mantén tu asepsia y antiasepsia. Lávate las manos. Gracias por el esfuerzo».
