Escocia anuncia confinamiento total por todo el mes de enero debido a la variante del coronavirus
La primera ministra de Escocia, Nicola Sturgeon, anunció el lunes que esa nación británica entrará de nuevo en un confinamiento “similar al del pasado marzo” para controlar el aumento de los contagios atribuidos a la nueva variante del coronavirus.
Hemos decidido “introducir a partir de medianoche, durante todo el mes de enero, un requisito legal de permanecer en casa, excepto para fines esenciales (…) similar al confinamiento del pasado marzo”.
Bajo las nuevas reglas de confinamiento —que son muy similares a las impuestas durante el primer pico de la pandemia en la primavera— las personas pueden salir a hacer ejercicio y solo pueden reunirse con una persona de otro hogar. Los cierres de escuelas se extienden hasta febrero, excepto para los hijos de trabajadores clave y los que estén bajo atención social.
Sturgeon dijo: “Estoy más preocupada por la situación que enfrentamos ahora que en cualquier otro momento desde marzo del año pasado”.
Escocia, que tiene su propio gobierno delegado, a menudo ha impuesto confinamientos más estrictos que los de Inglaterra durante la pandemia.
El primer ministro británico, Boris Johnson, anunció una conferencia de prensa televisada el lunes por la noche y dijo que el Parlamento se reunirá el miércoles. Anteriormente dijo que se avecinan restricciones más severas.
