Coronavirus y desconfinar entran al diccionario de la RAE
La nueva actualización cuenta con 2.557 novedades, tanto enmiendas como adiciones. Presentación estuvo a cargo de la académica Paz Battaner.
El diccionario de la Real Academia Española (RAE) no resultó inmune a la pandemia y agregó varios términos como coronavirus, COVID, desconfinar y desescalada. La presentación, realizada este martes 24 de noviembre, estuvo a cargo de la filóloga y lexicógrafa Paz Battaner.
“La crisis sanitaria, que ha golpeado a escala global este año 2020, es también protagonista de la nueva actualización” de la 23ª edición del diccionario, señaló la RAE en un comunicado.
Así, el diccionario en línea consultado por millones de hispanohablantes recoge a partir de ahora estas definiciones. La nueva revisión incluye 2.557 novedades, entre nuevas entradas y modificaciones de términos.
La actualización añade palabras médicas, como antirretroviral, en referencia al medicamento para combatir los retrovirus, o la vigorexia, que es la obsesión patológica por desarrollar músculos.
También se incluyen artículos de palabras que tienen que ver con la gastronomía, como el faláfel (o falafel), plato típico árabe, tex-mex, la cocina de mexicanos y estadounidenses en Texas, o el marmitako, un guiso de atún y papas de la cocina vasca.
Y en un gesto hacia las nuevas formas de comunicarse por internet, se agregan voces como emoji (icono digital para mostrar emociones), trolear (boicotear una conversación en redes con mensajes fuera de lugar) e hilo, en su acepción de cadena de mensajes.
En el acto en el que informó de la actualización del diccionario, la RAE presentó la Crónica de la lengua española 2020, una obra académica en la que expone los criterios para abordar los cambios en el idioma.
“La RAE propicia así que se conozca mejor la importante actividad que (…) desarrolla la institución para preservar el bien más importante de nuestro patrimonio cultural, la lengua que compartimos con casi 600 millones de personas en el mundo”, agregó el comunicado.
