Trágico: Tres niños y un adulto murieron hoy tras derrumbe de macizo en Nicaragua
Pese a las advertencias del peligro por el huracán Iota, las familias habían decido quedarse en sus casas y no hicieron caso a las recomendaciones.
Al menos cuatro personas, entre ellos tres niños, murieron en un deslave de tierra en una remota zona del departamento de Matagalpa, norte de Nicaragua, a causa de las fuertes lluvias provocadas por el ciclón Iota, mientras otras 15 están desaparecidas, informaron fuentes oficiales.
“Tenemos que comunicarles la lamentable noticia de que hemos encontrado cuatro personas fallecidas”, una mujer, sus dos pequeños hijos y otra niña- a causa de un derrumbe, afirmó el secretario político del departamento de Matagalpa, Pedro Haslam, al Canal 4 oficialista.
El deslizamiento ocurrió la noche del martes en el Macizo de Peñas de Blanca, en el Municipio Tuma-La Dalia de Matagalpa, precisó el gobierno en un comunicado.
“La información preliminar es que había 15 personas desaparecidas, de ellas, en el transcurso de la noche y la mañana de hoy, se han encontrado cuatro personas con vida y cuatro fallecidos”, comunicaron las autoridades en una declaración.
Las víctimas fueron una mujer de 34 años de edad y sus dos hijos de siete meses y nueve años. Además, se identificó el cuerpo de una niña de 2 años.
Los cuerpos de búsqueda lograron rescatar con vida entre la noche del martes y la mañana de este miércoles a cuatro personas, sin embargo, otras 15 están desaparecidas, según las autoridades.
El derrumbe ocurrió en lugar de difícil acceso al cual no se puede entrar con vehículos y no hay comunicación, dijo Haslam.
Las autoridades señalaron una supuesta responsabilidad de las víctimas ante el desastre.
“Estas familias en años anteriores recibieron la propuesta de reubicación de lugar por estar en zona de riesgo, pero no aceptaron, igualmente fueron visitados para que abandonaran el lugar ante la llegada del huracán, pero decidieron quedarse”, detalló el informe.
Iota impactó el lunes como un huracán en categoría 5 en el Caribe Norte de Nicaragua, azotando con fuertes lluvias y vientos el territorio centroamericano, donde los suelos aún estaban saturados de humedad por el paso del ciclón Eta dos semanas antes.
