Tras sacrificio de 17 millones debido al Covid-19, Dinamarca restringe cría de visones
Las autoridades de ese país tomaron la determinación de sacrificar a 17 millones de animales por presuntamente registrarse una mutación del virus que provoca el Covid-19 entre estas especies.
La ministra de Dinamarca, Mette Frederiksen, anunció que hay intenciones de prohibir la cría de visones hasta finales de 2021, al mismo tiempo que presentó la iniciativa de ley para permitir el sacrificio masivo de entre 15 y 17 millones de especímenes.
El sacrificio de visones está dirigido para ‘contener’ la mutación de coronavirus, que puede transmitirse a personas, según el gobierno danés, aunque no hay evidencia científica que avale que sea más peligrosa.
Detalló que el Gobierno necesita una nueva ley para permitir el sacrificio de los animales, ya que la decisión que presentó hace una semana carecía de caracter legal.
La ministra Mette Frederiksen se dirigió a los 179 miembros del Parlamento durante una sesión de preguntas y respuestas celebrada este martes.
“Aunque las cosas fueron rápidas, no hace falta decir que debe estar completamente claro que se requiere una nueva legislación”, dijo Frederiksen.

El gobierno danés mencionó que encontró la mutación de virus en 11 personas infectadas por visones, por ello dieron prioridad a la seguridad y ordenó el sacrificio de todos los visones de los mil 139 criaderos del país.
Recordemos que Dinamarca es el exportador de piel de visón más grande del mundo, producen un estimado de 17 millones de pieles al año.
