Dinamarca ha empezado a sacrificar 17 millones de visones después de que una mutación del coronavirus que se encontró en los animales pasó a humanos, lo que representa un riesgo para cualquier posible vacuna futura.
Una situación ‘’muy muy grave’’. Con esas palabras la primera ministra de Dinamarca, Mette Frederiksen, comunicó la decisión de su país de sacrificar a 17 millones de visones por una mutación del coronavirus que podía propagarse a los humanos.
Frederiksen explicó que el virus mutado representaba un ‘’riesgo para la eficacia’’ de una futura vacuna contra la covid-19.
Sin embargo, durante una conferencia de prensa, el ministro de Sanidad danés, Magnus Heunicke, aseguró que aún no había datos de que dicha mutación causara síntomas más graves de covid-19.
En concreto, este cambio genético se produce en una parte del virus conocida como proteína espiga, importante para la inmunidad y objetivo de futuras vacunas y tratamientos.
A los científicos daneses les preocupa que esta mutación específica es menos sensible a los anticuerpos protectores, poniendo en riesgo la efectividad de una vacuna futura.
